Indesign - In Class Assignment

Image
Using this app, was a bit difficult, but once I got used to it, I really noticed how many different aspects Indesign has. At first I was a bit overwhelmed because it was a software, I had never used before and there were so many different options to choose from, but after I finally figured out ho to work the app, it became comfortable soon afterwards. In addition, no other computer has this app, expect for the ones in this classroom, which did not allow me to examine the app better. I most definitely think Indesign will improve my magazine during revisions, because even though it is a rough draft, it looks more like a magazine to me than the template I used on a app (pages) on my Macbook. The one on my Mac makes my magazine seem more like a newsletter, rather than a magazine. But I need to reorganize this still, to be able to fit everything in without it being jam packed or tight.

Audience Engagement Research - The Vegan Society

Image
Our audiences are similar because we both are targeting vegans, vegetarians, etc and others who want a healthy lifestyle and to convert to Veganism. This magazine is an educational charity that provides information and guidance on various aspects of Veganism, including new vegans, healthcare professionals, educators, and the media. This magazine markets their product through Twitter, using their own website, and also Facebook. This shows that they want to target older audiences through Facebook, and younger and more "up to date" audiences through Twitter. The persuasive techniques is by saying how their magazine can help save the planet. Their quotes are "Plate up for the Planet. Taste the Future. Go Vegan" and "One world. Many lives. Our choice." The form of media used were social media, print, digital email, and online. I would probably use both social medias to target all audiences.

Audience Engagement Research - Clean Eating

Image
Our magazines are similar because we both want to promote healthier eating and cleaner foods for people. Additionally this magazine is promoting the Keto Diet, which is a vegan diet. They want to help improve the health and extend the lives of others. To help create an active lifestyle, obtain optimum health and lose fat, boost energy levels and increase the overall well being. They provide many aspects of nutrition, to help readers attain their goal weight, and provides recipes for readers. The only difference is that this magazine is targeting women around 25-55 in age, while my audience is everyone. They marketed their product through Facebook, Amazon, and through food markets. The persuasive techniques this magazine uses is by using words such as "Best Health, Clean, Healthiest, and Shortcuts." The type of media used was social media, print, mail, and online. I would use Facebook, because many of middle aged women use facebook and since they target women near those...

Audience Engagement Research - Vegetarian Times

Image
Vegetarian Times is a vegan magazine, our target audiences are similar because we are both targeting towards vegetarians, vegans, and "semi-vegetarians." Those who want and are focused on having a healthy lifestyle. This magazine also provided wellness information, cooking techniques, and also some healthy recipes. They marketed their magazine through Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram. and they also have their own website. Their way of advertisement is through online and social media. Persuasive techniques used were the use of bright and professional pictures of foods. For example, on their instagram, their photos are bright and colorful, yet has a green theme. Additionally, in their bio they listed in their website they are the" #1 resource for vegetarian, vegan, and plant based recipes, and lifestyle information." This is to help persuade new readers into entrusting this magazine. Aspects of marketing I would use is Instagram to help promote since it is the ...

My Target Audience

My target audience will be for all ages and genders. Since it is just a food magazine, there should be no limit on the audience's age or their gender. As for the geography, it is not really a local magazine, so it can be targeted for anyone around the United States. The income level, will as well, not matter, because in my magazine, there is nothing expensive needed, necessarily because some vegan foods can be a bit higher on prices, but I believe almost anyone that has an income can purchase these. Additionally, I provide, cheap alternatives for vegan foods, such as fast foods and meat lover alternatives. For the education level, nothing is needed, since it is only a food magazine. You probably might need to know if you have any allergies. As for personal interests, the reader probably is interested in personal health and benefits, ways to help the Earth from transitioning into Veganism, and more. The foods that will be appealing to my audience, is that these foods are vegan and c...

Feedback and Revisions

Based on the feedback I received from presenting my mid term submission, I will edit my title page by making the font more bold and bigger or to create a black outline, so it will be easier to see the text behind the distracting background. In addition, my title page picture is a bit dark, even though it is colorful, I can make it a bit lighter to make it easier for people to see the texts. As for my table of contents, I want to change the font so it matches my title page. I would rather have the same fonts so it would match. Additionally, I can move the image over a bit to the left so the main image will be in the center and I can add more text on the plain background on both sides and not just the left side. Also making the font a bit bigger and more bold. For the two article pages, I am going to remove the swimmer logo underneath the "Vegan Athletes" topic because it does not seem as professional and since I used a template from the app, Pages, I will need to remove one of...

Use of Conventions

For my magazine, I created a food magazine. It was called, "Eating for Wellness" where the article is about vegan food. This magazine will be made to appeal to vegans, people wanting to transition over to a vegan lifestyle, and vegan food critics.  The convention of this are having images of vegan alternatives, recipes, chefs, people who chose to be vegan, and having a beneficial effect on the world. It represents vegan social groups to show that vegans eat more than lettuce (since that is a big misconception.) Additionally it represents issues, as humanity is becoming more obese and unhealthy by the minute due to junk food, fasts foods, and more. It will help not only the person to choose a healthier lifestyle, but to help out the planet. Vegan foods will create a better environment for animals and the world around them. From decreasing the amount of CO2 emissions and animal cruelty.
