Creative Critical Reflection #1

The use of conventions in my magazine was directed towards the subject of my magazine. My choice of fonts was supposed to be simplistic and earthy. I used colors such as green and blue for my fonts to represent the Earth. My photographs used were all food and drinks that were vegan. My cover page consists of a soup with noodles, vegetables , tomatoes, tofu and pecans. In addition, there were photos of vegan french toast, oatmeal, a vegan taco salad, and vegan drinks such as coffees. These photos were essential to show that being vegan is not just eating salads; it is a variety of converting from eating everyday foods to a healthier and animal friendly version. The photo's were not editing as much because i wanted to portray the colorful foods, in its natural colors. Photos were only cropped to fit the frame. Another convention used was the location of  the photo shoot. The place was located at the Ionie Retreat and Organic Raw food Cafe. This area provided foods such as the Taco salad. It replaced the meat with a taco flavored quinoa. This was important to show people can make foods that taste exactly like meat, without the harm of any animals or the planet. Furthermore, the other photos I used were already in my camera roll. This just comes to show how vegan foods that are eaten almost everyday, were already consumed by me, without even knowing. The social group/issue is for all ages and genders. This magazine is based on eating for wellness and to encourage transition over to eating vegan food for health and for the planet. This is targeted for anyone around the world wanting to learn more about Veganism, wants to transition over or is interested in personal health and benefits, this magazine will be for them. As for wealth, it will not matter;  becoming vegan is not an expensive process and almost anyone with an income can do this lifestyle. If they are not willing to pay the small extra costs for vegan alternatives, I provided in my magazine a cheap alternative such as fast foods and meat alternatives.  The convention of this are having images of vegan alternatives, recipes, chefs, people who chose to be vegan, and having a beneficial effect on the world. It represents vegan social groups to show that vegans eat more than lettuce (since that is a big misconception.) Additionally it represents issues, as humanity is becoming more obese and unhealthy by the minute due to junk food, fasts foods, and more. It will help not only the person to choose a healthier lifestyle, but to help out the planet. Vegan foods will create a better environment for animals and the world around them. From decreasing the amount of CO2 emissions and animal cruelty.
